How do I make a counseling appointment? 

Appointments and inquiries can be made by email:  Two forms are completed by clients before the first session (see below).

Where is your office? 

The office is located at 2230 W. Chapman in Orange (corner of Flower and Chapman). Parking in the rear of the building.  My office is on the second floor.

How can counseling or coaching help me?

Counseling and coaching can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing complex issues or personal growth.

Common Issues include Depression and Anxiety, Communication problems, Couples Counseling, Career Counseling, and Life script work.

It is important to integrate new behaviors into your life between sessions. Catherine teaches several tools to help clients change behavior. Between sessions, clients agree to practice the tools, read articles, or keep records to track behaviors.

How long does it take?

Often people have specific problems that are keeping them stuck (how do I talk to my teen?  How do I start dating again? etc.)  At our first session, we will discuss your goals and create a plan for addressing them.  Typically this type of counseling requires 2-3 sessions.

Sometimes problems are systemic, meaning they have been there for many years.  In this case, we would work together to create your plan for change. Part of counseling includes work outside the session.  I will provide the names of several books, CD’s, and links that will help you continue your work during the week.

If you would like me to coordinate care with another provider (for example, your psychiatrist, primary care physician, etc.), complete this form to authorize release of psychotherapy information:

Confidentiality & Privacy Policy:

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Rewards and Risks of counseling:

The rewards of counseling include understanding yourself better.  You will learn seven principles for creating the life you want. You will practice tools to think and speak rationally. You will learn how to write a new life script.

There are risks to change! This process requires effort.  It may be time-consuming, homework is required, and change may take longer than you think.  Your family and friends may not like the changes they see. The process of change can be emotionally upsetting, even if the change is positive.

Fees and Insurance:

Individual: $100 for 50-minute session.
Couples and Families: $175 for 90 minute session.

We do not take insurance. Please check with your insurance company for out-of-network benefits. Most PPO’s reimburse at a rate of 50-60%, which means you can pay for our services up front, and we will provide a super bill for reimbursement. Accepted payment methods include Cash, Venmo, MasterCard, PayPal, and Visa.

Cancellation Policy:
If you do not show up for your scheduled counseling appointment, and you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the cost of the session.
